Khan v Alvarez
This should be interesting, Khan stepping up 2 weight divisions to take on one of the current best pound for pound fighters.

Not sure how this will turn out but guaranteed to be a tear up

I think it's amazing Khan is getting these kind of fights. Every time he goes up against anyone decent he is beaten. Can't take a good punch. Another ok fighter just managed for money.

At the top level weight is a big advantage.
Alvarez went into the ring 12 Stone mark.
Khan..and I agree has a glass chin..was always taking a massive gamble..and didn't pay off.

all boxers get hit, not all boxers get knocked out like khan does. he's got a glass jaw

Re: Khan v Alvarez
Was him getting sparked out by Prescott and Garcia a weight difference thing as well?

Or was it that he got sloppy, got into a shit position, left his chin hanging out and got flattened?

You get hit by a fully loaded overhand right flush on the chin in any weight class, you're getting knocked out.

On Khan's case, he's now done it 3 times against different opponents in different weight divisions to different punches. As Brook said before this fight, it was a no lose for Khan, he can just blame his shortcomings on the weight difference.

"The punch that knocked him out had nothing to do with the weight division jump. "

Of course it did. Khan was by far the quicker, more accurate boxer but his work was having no effect whatsoever. At the same time, Alvarez was missing, wildly at first, but getting closer and closer. He had the luxuxry to bide his time as he couldn't get hurt. Then he nailed him with a punch that had everything to do with the weight difference. Khan's go 2 fights left in him, I reckon. He'll smash Brook, then probably lose one last mega fight.

The punch that knocked him out had nothing to do with the weight division jump.

Yet again, he got himself in a terrible position and got flattened.
Wouldn't have been any different if it had been Brook, Garcia or anyone in his weight division.

The flipside of that is it hasn't made any difference to whether he has a glass chin or not, it was just an horrendous mistake that would have got punished by any elite level fighter in any division

I'm in no way comparing Khan to Duran by the way. I'm just saying that this was a mismatch and you can't really judge him on it.

Re: Khan v Alvarez
Khan simply fought someone too big for him.

Duran was class but even he had no chance against Hearns.

Re: Khan v Alvarez
Miike, never said he has got a good chin, but his biggest problem is how open he leaves himself too a proper dig, he has really poor technique defensively and gets himself into terrible positions.

I think Khan new this was on the cards he's avoided any sort of puncher since losing to Garcia in the hope of getting Mayweather and Pacquiao. When both retired Canelo was the next in line. Got paid alot for last night and still has he's massive payday against Kell Brook to come. A loss against Canelo ain't as damaging as a loss to any of the others at 147. Hes been advised very well.

Re: Khan v Alvarez
i boxed as a junior at west ham, the lad has a suspect chin. he's not the first and won't be the last, and he's done well with good people round him to have got the opportunities he has. I worry about George Groves too getting badly hurt if he goes in with another heavy hitter as he's so easy to catch

Eerie Descent 3:02 Sun May 8
Re: Khan v Alvarez
I think there's slightly more to it than that Miike, having boxed I can tell you that for sure.

Re: Khan v Alvarez
it's not that complicated, the cunt can't take a punch. the big scouser pryce is the same. it's a big drawback in boxing at the highest level

Eerie Descent 2:52 Sun May 8
Re: Khan v Alvarez
It's not so much not being able to take a punch, it's how cleanly he allows himself to get hit. Obviously he's not got a great chin, but when he has been stopped, it's been with punches that would knock anyone out, he just doesn't ride punches. He's not the smartest fighter and when he fights big hitters, he gets KO'd, simple as that.

Hopefully people who should know better like De La Hoya and Malignaggi will stop talking him up like he's Sugar Ray Leonard.

Magic watching his glass chin get smashed in again.
Retire please Amir, preferably to Pakistan.

Re: Khan v Alvarez
I always thought it would be very difficult for Khan who is a wonderful pacey fighter but without the power needed to be at the highest level regarding the top top boxers, add to that he cannot take a good punch.
Alvarez is already a great boxer and has lots of power in his bombs, and that is what did it.
Thought Khan should never have attempted this feat anyway, it was a step up too far.

Lee Trundle 1:18 Sun May 8
Re: Khan v Alvarez
To be fair to Khan, his defence was better than I thought it was going g to be. I never thought it would go 6 rounds.

But you always felt that Alvarez was going to land a bomb plush on his chin at some point.

I doubt we'll see a better knockout this year.
